Senior Scientist
Global Science & Technology, Inc (GST) a growing high technology company is looking for an experienced
Senior Scientist for our NASA's Office of Chief Technologist (OCT) project located in Arlington (Crystal City), VA.
Position Summary:
The Senior Scientist will support the coordination of peer review activities in support of NASA's Office of the Chief Technologist (OCT) and the Space Life and Physical Sciences Research and Applications (SLPSRA) Division.
Primary Duties:
- Recruit experts to serve as panel chairs and subject matter experts on peer review panels, site visits and non-advocate reviews in the areas of space technology, materials sciences, fluids, fundamental physics and combustion sciences.
- Conducts mail reviews, non-advocate reviews, and site visits as required, serve as Executive Secretary as required.
- Assigns proposals submitted to NASA OCT research solicitations to appropriate subject matter experts.
- Ensures that peer review procedures including Conflict of Interest avoidance rules are followed.
- Serve as expert on peer review panel protocols and procedures.
- Assume overall responsibility for management of assigned panels, workshops and other peer review activities including preparation and quality checking of required documentation.
- Ensure that the quality and integrity of the peer review panels is maintained at the highest levels.
Secondary Duties:
- Review and comment on draft NASA research solicitations prior to their release to the public.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- 5-10 years experience in NASA related technological or physical sciences disciplines. Advanced education can be substituted for experience.
- Knowledge of NASA technology programs or physical sciences programs a plus.
- Knowledge of the scientific peer review process a plus.
Education:
- MS/MA degree in Engineering discipline or Physics. PhD preferred.
